E Ink expanded its headquarters plant in the Hsinchu Science Park by leveraging existing on-site wastewater treatment facilities and implementing rainwater harvesting and air-conditioning condensate water recovery systems, achieving over 50% water savings. With Delta’s energy-efficient solutions and indoor environmental control systems, the project successfully earned LEED Gold Certification.
Project Location|Hsinchu City, Taiwan
Building Type|Factory Office Building
Certification|LEED v4 BD+C Gold
The expansion of E Ink’s Hsinchu facility centers on “smart energy efficiency × optimized management × sustainable building.” By integrating Delta’s energy saving technologies and green design strategies, the project successfully achieved LEED v4 BD+C Gold certification. Through high efficiency lighting, intelligent monitoring, and comprehensive water management, the facility not only enhances operational performance but also demonstrates the company’s strong commitment to ESG and its long-term net zero roadmap.
The building is equipped with Delta LED lighting fixtures¹, DALI intelligent lighting control system², and digital power meters³. Together with zoning control and automated energy saving strategies, lighting efficiency is significantly improved. The HVAC system adopts high efficiency chillers and variable frequency technologies, further optimized through whole building energy simulation. As a result, the building performs approximately 26% better than the LEED baseline in overall energy consumption.
A complete rainwater harvesting system and condensate water recovery system were implemented. Rainwater is reused for landscape irrigation and toilet flushing, while condensate water supplements the cooling tower. These measures reduce 100% of outdoor water use and nearly 90% of indoor water use, greatly minimizing dependence on municipal water supply.
Vegetation surveys and transplant planning were conducted to preserve existing tree species and increase biodiversity with native plants. Permeable paving and water retention structures improve rainwater infiltration, effectively mitigate heat island effects, and create a resilient and ecologically valuable green environment.
